Closet organization can be a challenge or you can make it fun and rewarding. Take the time and use the following five closet organizing tips so you’ll have a nicely arranged spot for apparel, jackets and shoes.

Step #1 – Draw a Replica of your Closet and Record the Dimensions – You need the dimensions of your closet so you’ll best know how to evaluate what items of clothes to keep, what items need to be hung on racks and which items, such as sweaters, can be put on shelves. You might even want to use the layout and dimensions to install, say, a wire closet organizer. Such an organizer can be easily set up once you know the size of your closet and the items you want to store. Plus, most require no tools for assembly.

Step #2 – Assess Your Wardrobe and Apparel and Separate the Items that Need to be Stored –When you make your assessment, make sure you organize closet apparel that are alike together. For instance, you’ll want to hang your pants together, your skirts together and your shirts together.

Step #3 – Make Sure the Closet Organizer Makes Good Use of the Available Space – You’ll need to plan your closet organizer system so you’ll be able to hang clothes rods at least a foot from the back of your closet in order to prevent squashing your garments. Also, permit at least 3 inches for rods hung under shelving so you can easily take hangers off the rod.

Step #4 – Avoid Crowding your Clothes by Allowing at Least 1 inch of Horizontal Space per Garment – In other words, make sure you have enough room between each clothing item so you can readily take it out of the closet. Even if like clothing items are hung together, it defeats the purpose if they are crammed so tight within the storage area that you can’ retrieve them easily.

Step #5 – Use Organizer Closet Accessories, Such as Hooks, Hanging Bins and Shelves to Transform Inside Closet Drawers into Additional Storage – As already stated, use all the reasonable space you have available for storage, even the vertical space.

Choosing the right display cabinet for your living room can be hard as there are many different designs and brand names on the market. A few important things to remember when choosing a display cabinet is that you should choose something that matches well with the furniture you already have in the room. If the color or style clashes with your pre-existing furniture then you are going to have problems. Also, make sure to measure the area to know how high and wide the display cabinet should be, as it is a hassle to get something that is either too large or too small and then have to exchange it.

There are both contemporary style and antique style display cabinets; the contemporary style ones are nice looking and will suit most any living room. The smaller ones will cost a few hundred dollars will the taller ones will cost at least $480 and the prices goes up from there depending on the brand. Antique cabinets usually cost more but they are very beautifully made and will look great, especially if you have other antique style furniture in the room to match it.

If you need something affordable and yet good quality and nice looking, then Pulaski and Homestyle make a few models that are in the $400 – $600 range. They are made from wood and have glass doors to them. They are medium sized and will hold a fair amount of curios and other display items. If you do not have a lot of space then you can get the very narrow ones made by Harmony and Howard Miller, but the cost is about the same and if you do have a fair bit of space in your living room then having something tall and narrow will not look nice.

If you have the budget for it then there are some very nice looking glass display cabinets that are over $1000 that are made from hardwoods such as oak and mahogany. There is something about wood that makes it an all time classic; wooden cabinets look good in most any room.

If you want to redecorate the garage and make a big change, start with the floor. The floor in your garage gets a lot of wear and tear and when it is dingy and old looking it changes the whole look of the room. Painting a garage floor is different from painting floors in the home. There are a few options for garage flooring you must learn more about so you can decide on the right option for your own home.

Paint is one of the best options for redoing a floor in the garage. Epoxy paints work best and are incredibly durable. You can find the paint in pretty much every color imaginable so no matter what look you are going for you can achieve the desired effect. To paint your floor you would simply remove all items from the room, clean the concrete thoroughly to have the most porous base to paint on.

Apply the first coat and give it time to dry, usually about twelve hours. After this you want to apply a second coat to ensure a thick, rich color. Give this about fifteen hours to dry and then you can walk on the floor and use the room like normal.

There is also the option of using tile in the garage. The main advantage of tile is that it is so easy to install. You could basically have the entire floor redone in a matter of days and it would look incredible. Tile is more expensive than paint but is worth it. You can find a garage floor tile kit for a couple hundred dollars and this is usually your best bet because it will include everything you need for the job.

You can choose the interlocking tile or peel and stick tiles. It will be best to have some extra hands there helping you out, especially if you have an extra large floor to work with.

These are the two best options for garage flooring. Everyone has a different use for their garage so it is essential you find the best flooring for your needs.

If you are looking to buy a dressing table for your bedroom then there are one or two things you should consider before parting with your hard earned cash. There is no such thing as the perfect dressing table; everybody has their own individual taste after all so I’m not putting this out there are the definitive guide, but if you you follow most of the points outlined here you will be well on the way to owning a dressing table that suits you.

One of the most common mistakes people make when thinking about a dressing table for their room is to not show it enough respect. Really! Many people do not regard the dressing table as an essential item of furniture, preferring instead to think of it as a luxury rather than something they simply must have. Consequently it is often shoved to the bottom of the list and bought with what budget remains after the rest of the furniture has been take care of. The truth I feel is somewhat different.

A good dressing table will stay with you for a very long time, and very often should be thought of as an investment which can be passed onto your children and grandchildren as a family heirloom. Apart from your bed it will probably be the most used piece of furniture in the room. Just think about how often you’ll sit at this table applying and removing your make-up, brushing and drying your hair. If such things were possible you could consider it your best friend, constantly re-assuring you as you endevour to face the day ahead. But only if you choose dressing table that is right for you.

When you make your choice you must find the perfect balance between style, affordability and space. I would recommend looking for a dressing table with good build quality, preferably made from solid wood such as pine but one that is not too large for your room. By the same token however you do need to make sure your dressing table is large enough to suit your needs now and into the future; you’ll have to make sure it can accommodate your ever growing selection of cosmetics. The single pedestal dressing table is usually an ideal compromise, not to big but still spacious and not as expensive as its double pedestal counterpart.

Finally, make sure you look for a decent dressing table set. You can find quality sets online, usually comprising of a Mirror and Stool to go with your dressing table. While this may increase the purchase price a little, in the long run it will save you having to compromise, or purchase the items separately at a later date.

Property owners can cut the price of their house insurance premium when they read the following cost cutting concepts that could enable them to get a cheaper home insurance policy.

Shopping online for a cheap home insurance policy is the best way to go about to try and beat your renewal quote. When you shop online all the suppliers offer homeowners an online discount straight away and to every new customer. These discounts can go up to around 25% with some insurers which is pretty good when compared to buy a policy over the phone where you don’t get a discount straight away you just have to barter and try and negotiate a cheaper deal with the insurance companies representative.

When you shop online you are more likely to be able to pick and choose what level of cover you want and when doing so what that will do to your overall cost of the policy. Some features are provided as standard cover and include free emergency and legal cover. Each policy is different and usually offers some kind of incentive to purchase. In order to get a good idea on what benefits are currently on offer with each policy, take a look at our comparison table. It gives all the information you need for selecting a policy for quote.

Not many homeowners know about this next tip and that it can offer good savings potentially. Separating your buildings and contents insurance policies and purchasing them separately from a different supplier or just individually with the same supplier could get you bigger savings. Buy a combined policy for buildings and contents is not always the cheapest way to buy these two products. So my advice is to shop around and see what getting a quotation for each policy will do to the price of your home insurance premium.

Handcrafted Log Homes are a unique style of homes that I would like to introduce you to. When someone hears the word “log home” just about anyone can find a mental picture, an image, to link to that term. But handcrafted homes are a specialized style of home. Unlike their manufactured log cousins, these homes are totally fashioned by hand. With no machine cuts, these homes are so individual and unique.

One of the main differences that set hand craft homes apart are the width and length of the logs used. Handcrafted log homes use larger diameter logs with varied diameters. A milled log home are constructed from logs between 6 and 8 inches in diameter. Our handcrafted homes range in diameter from about 12″ to 15″ in diameter with a length of up to 50′. These large logs with random sizes lend lots of character to any home.

Now let’s look at the log lengths. If you were to look at 10 different homes, you would find logs ranging from 10 feet to 40 feet or more. The higher quality handcrafted homes have the longer log lengths.

How the log is finished is also point to consider. Hand crafted log homes are hand peeled. Each log is striped of its bark with a hand lave. The lave peels back the bark to reveal the individual log’s character inside. One concern is will the logs be rough to touch when the home is finished. They may look nice, but will they be constantly snagging clothing, drapes, and giving out splinters to hands that touch them. The answer to this is some log home company’s will hand sand every log surface after the logs are assembled but before it is shipped the the new homeowner.

After considering width, length, and finish of the logs, one of the primary things to consider is how the logs stack. The Scandinavian full scribe method of fashioning the logs and stacking them is an old world tradition. The top of each log is left rounded, but the bottoms of the logs are cut with a concave dome pattern so that each log over laps the one above it as it is stacked. The full scribe method also allows for the logs to settle and cleave even tighter together.

A handcrafted log home that uses the chinking method do not typically provide any overlap between the logs. Instead the logs are spaced apart and chinking is used to seal the home. This reduces the over all quality of the home, and it cuts the craftsmanship ability needed to produce the home in about half. True quality handcrafts are only constructed with the full scribe method.

Anyone who as every looked at a log home would have seen the log ends, so distinctive to this style of homes. The log corners of a handcrafted home can be done in either butt and pass, full saddle notch, or diamond cut pattern. The butt and pass style is were every other log end is visible on the corner. Full saddle notch is where every end of the log shows on both sides of the corner. And diamond cut pattern is where the uppers and lowers of each log is cut to fit into a ‘diamond pattern’. This is the most lovely of corners in my opinion.

Handcrafted log homes are a joy to own. When coupled with the time, patience, and expense to produce one they are truly rewarding to build and own. In the North Western states of Idaho and Montana handcrafted log homes are especially popular.

Are you planning to move in Saint Paul and don’t know where to live?

This question is not difficult to answer, especially if you knew what type of a dwelling place you want. Would you prefer to live on an elegant urban loft? Do you want to live on a quiet residential area, or live on a place where bars and shopping districts are just a few blocks away? Would you prefer to live in a place where neighbors are sensible and old-fashioned, or do you prefer a “liberal-hippy” kind of a neighborhood? Are you the type who loves to walk on a nearby coffee shop when you need some time to relax? Do you need a house where there is a huge garage enough to fit a couple of your cars, or can you just settle to a simple apartment building where there is a stair enough to bring your bike up?

Answering these questions would be a great help in finding the best place for you to live in, out of the hundred different types of Saint Paul Homes. But whatever your preferences are, there are so many options available for you to choose. You may search for them online, or you could check on a local magazine, where it features so many different types of Saint Paul Homes.

Saint Paul has a diverse and rich heritage both culturally and in its housing stock. You can find close knit communities of every ethnicity as well as homes built from every year since the 1800 and every immigrant group that has moved into the Saint Paul area. A great way to understand the areas is to simply get in your car and drive around. Stop in the local stores and local restaurants. Where feels like home most of all? That is where you should be looking for your home in Saint Paul.

Decorating with a Wall Lamp

Installing a wall lamp inside your household can definitely make the interior of your home look more appealing and beautiful. Wall lamps add flair and style to home interiors as much as a ceiling light does. At the same time, they can also be used to provide added safety to the property, particularly when they are fixed on outdoor walls.

Wall lamps have been widely used by many people since centuries ago. With the passing of time and with advanced technology, more models of these types have been produced. Now, there is a wide array of wall mount lamps to choose from.

Swing Arm Wall Mounted Lamps

These kinds of wall fixtures are created specifically for reading purposes. They can be placed inside studies, offices, and bedrooms, particularly in areas where people usually read.

Fine Art Wall Fixtures

Light fixtures of these varieties are made with unique hand finishes that are highly decorative. Fine art lamps may come in glass, resin, or metal finish and are often extremely portable.

Track Lighting Wall Mount

These light fixtures are extremely versatile. They can be installed on the walls of any room in the house. Their heads are removable and can be replaced anytime to meet the lighting needs of individuals.

Wall Mounted Desk Lamps

One of the desk lamp varieties that are made specifically for reading, wall mounted desk lamps can be installed on bedside walls so individuals can easily read their books while lying in bed.

Reclaimed flooring from old houses, warehouse, and barns is an excellent way to update your home with character and class. In addition to refinishing your kitchen doors or upgrading to glass kitchen doors, changing your flooring will almost always add value and appeal to your home.

Reclaimed flooring is more authentic than laminate wood flooring since it is usually solid wood, not just a veneer coating on top of manufactured particle board or MDF substrate. You will probably want to sand and refinish most reclaimed flooring, but it’s well worth it in the end.

In most cases flooring that has been salvaged from old homes, barns, or community halls is a very high quality. It was made from lumber that was cut fifty to one hundred years ago.

In those days they threw away the pieces that we call “premium” lumber today. Premium lumber fifty years ago meant no knots or bark rot, and straight flat pieces with a lot of grain and character. That type of wood is almost non-existent today.

Using reclaimed or salvaged wood doesn’t mean you have to stick to an antique decor in your house. Old wood can almost always be refinished and revitalized to look as good as new. In fact, people who appreciate fine things will instantly recognize it as a superior product. If they don’t know a lot about lumber they may not know exactly why they think it’s high quality, but they will definitely sense it.

Older wood is also more stable since it has had plenty of time to dry out properly and stabilize to match the environment that it exists in. Of course, after you move it you should give it some time to stabilize to the humidity and environment of your house. Make sure you let it sit inside your house for at least a month before installation. I know this sounds excessive, but 3 years later you will have virtually no gaps in your hardwood floor.

Reclaimed wood flooring can provide you with artistic, high quality hardwood floors for your house that will last a lifetime. Chances are none of your neighbors will have anything comparable, and in many cases it’s very economical.
